Jeff Nutt

Jeff Nutt was born in Austin, Texas and moved to Wylie when he was in the 2nd grade. He graduated from Wylie High School in 2003.

Jeff was an all-district catcher for the Pirates for three years. He was a part of the great play-off games in 2002 and 2003 with Mesguite Poteet,
Athens, Denton Ryan and Highland Park under Coach Craighead.

After Jeff completed his baseball career with the Pirates, he went on to catch for the Navarro College Bulldogs for 2 years.
He hit .330 his Freshman year and .327 his Sophmore year.

He was selected to the Region XIV All -Conference baseball team as catcher.

Jeff continued his college career at Arkansas in the tough Southeast Conference where he hit .288 his Junior year and .274 his Senior year.

He was the Catcher/DH for the 4th ranked Razorbacks for 2 years. He had a double on the first pitch he saw at the Division I level.

In the summers, Jeff played in Flordia, and was an all-league catcher.  In Baltimore in the Cal Ripken wooden bat league, he was also the all-league catcher and Batting Champion.  In that league his team, the Maryland Orioles, were the National Champions. Jeff also played for the Coppell Copperheads where he was also choosen as the all-league catcher and the 5th top Pro prospect.

Jeff graduated from Arkansas and was selected in the 25th round of the 2008 Major League Baseball Draft by the New York Yankees.

He played professionally for the Staten Island Yankees in the Penn State League and the Charleston River Dogs in the Sally League. 

Jeff is currently a teacher/coach in the Community ISD and is married to his college sweetheart, Randi, also an Arkansas graduate who is a teacher/coach in the Wylie ISD.  They have a son, Elijah.

Jeff is the son of Dianne ,WHS class of '79 and Kelly Nutt.
His sister Rendi, WHS class of 2001 who was a softball and volleyball player for the Pirates.

Jeff is the first student/athlete to be named to the Wylie Sports Hall of Honor that graduated in this century.
